Simultaneous Estimation of Twenty Eight Phenolic Compounds by a Novel and Expeditious Method Developed on Quaternary Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography System with a Photodiode Array Detector

Abstract: Plant secondary metabolites including phenolics and flavonoidsare synthesized through phenylpropanoid and phenylpropanoid-acetate pathways and significantly contribute against adverse effect of abiotic and biotic stresses. Herein, we present the development and execution of a novel and expeditious ultra-performance liquid chromatographic-photodiode array (UPLC-PDA) method for qualitative and quantitative analysis of 28 phenolic compounds comprising of flavonoids, phenolic acids, aldehydes and alcohols. The met… Show more

“…High-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence (FLR) [ 27 ], mass spectrometer (MS) [ 28 ], or photodiode array detection (PDA) have been the most widely used method for the detection of psilocybin and psilocin [ 23 ]. The last one registers the UV-Vis spectra of all the outgoing compounds under several wavelengths, so that compounds can be detected under optimal absorption conditions [ 29 ].…”

“…Chromatographic techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) have been developed for phenolic compounds determination in plant sources [7,8]. The UPLC-PDA technique has successfully characterized the phenolic acids and flavonoids from herbal plants [9]. Additionally, the UPLC-PDA was employed to characterize and quantify the phenolic compounds in K. alvarezii due to a faster separation than the HPLC.…”
