Simultaneous polarographic determination of 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol by differential pulse polarography method and support vector regression

Abstract: A differential pulse polarography (DPP) for the simultaneous determination of 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol was proposed. It was found that under optimum experimental conditions (pH = 5, scan rate = 5 mV/s, pulse amplitude = -50 mV), 2-nitrophenol and 4-nitrophenol had well-defined polarographic reduction waves with peak potentials at -317 and -406 mV, respectively. In the mixture of two compounds overlapping polarographic peaks were observed. In this study, support vector regression (SVR) was applied to res… Show more

“…Its concepts can be generalized to become applicable to regression problems. 39,40 It has been successfully applied to the simultaneous voltammetric determination of morphine and noscapine, 41 explosives detection 42 and classification of green and black teas. 43 Its advantages over linear regression can be seen in the higher performance of SVR (see Table 2) and on the graph of mixture prediction Deep neural network.…”

“…9 So, therefore it is necessary to develop analytical tools which are capable of addressing this issue, and also an answer for this problem. In order to achieve this goal, researchers have used various analytical methods for the determination of NFT and 4-NP such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 10 colorimetry, 11 capillary zone electrophoresis, 12 spectroscopic determination, 13 liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC-MS), 14 flow injection analysis, 15 polarography 16 and electrochemical methods 17 were employed. The electrochemical method outperformed other methods due to its unique advantages such as rapidity, low limit of detection, no or easy sample pre-treatment, cost effectiveness, easy to operate, high sensitivity, high selectivity and portability.…”

“…Besides, NPs are formed in the atmosphere via the photochemical reaction of benzene and NO in a highly polluted air . These compounds are very hazardous for human health, even at ppb levels; hence, their determination at trace level is of great importance . The European community has specified a limit of 0.1 µg/L for each phenol and 0.5 µg/L for the sum of all phenolic compounds in the water intended for human consumption .…”
