Single Crystal X-Ray Diffraction Studies on Magnetic Yb5Co4Ge10

Abstract: The high quality single crystals of Yb 5 Co 4 Ge 10 have been grown by the indium metal flux method and characterized by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction data. Yb 5 Co 4 Ge 10 crystallizes in the Sc 5 Co 4 Si 10 structure type, tetragonal space group P4/mbm and lattice constants are a = b = 12.6369(18) Å and c = 4.1378(8) Å. Crystal structure of Yb 5 Co 4 Ge 10 composed of three-dimensional [Co 4 Ge 12 ] network having five, six and eight membered rings. The three non-equivalent Yb atoms are sandwiche… Show more

“…This compound exhibits short range antiferromagnetic correlations, but it remains paramagnetic down to T = 2 K [60]. The crystal structure of Yb 5 Co 4 Ge 10 has been determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction [61]. Phase transitions do not occur down to T = 1.2 K [53].…”
