“…In seismic profiles, fault interpretation is based on apparent offsetting of stratigraphic sequences, but in GPR profiles, faults can be detected through: (i) direct reflections from the fault plane/zone; (ii) diffraction hyperbola at the tip of a fault plane; (iii) termination of laterally continuous reflections along a fault; (iv) significant change in reflection amplitude along the fault; (v) across‐fault offset of reflections with varying intensities; and (vi) reflection truncation, sudden change in dip and thickness of reflections across the fault (Cai et al ., 1996; Slater and Niemi, 2003; Lunina and Denisenko, 2020).…”

“…By processing the radar signal data, the receiving device then creates a map using the detected electromagnetic waves, as shown in Figure 1. After the electromagnetic wave is launched, it will be reflected by various rock mass interfaces in the detecting medium due to the electrical differences between the different media [13]. The reflected wave has significant variations in its amplitude, frequency, wave velocity, phase, and other properties due to the varied electrical and geometric features of the materials inside the detecting medium.…”
