“…Many authors have attempted to develop appropriate surgical methods for huge ovarian cysts (Table 4). Some authors used surgical methods combined with LESS surgery to decrease tumor volume, as well as with extracorporeal approaches to completely remove cysts 101112. Yi11 reported no conversion to laparotomy in their 3 cases.…”

“…Yi11 reported no conversion to laparotomy in their 3 cases. Kim, et al12 used surgical techniques combined with LESS surgery and reported a mean tumor diameter, cyst content spillage rate, and conversion rate of 11.9 cm, 9.1%, and 4.5%, respectively. Song, et al10 also used combined surgical treatment and reported a mean tumor diameter, cyst content spillage rate, and conversion rate of 21.1 cm, 9.5%, and 4.7%, respectively.…”

“…Some suggest that proper management for adnexal tumors larger than 8 to 10 cm in size is laparotomy [ 5 6 ]. Recently, several studies have reported the surgical outcomes of SPA laparoscopic surgery for the management of adnexal tumors [ 7 8 9 10 ], however these reports usually excluded large ovarian cyst.…”

“…Extracting a giant ovarian cyst without any spillage is very important for prophylaxis of chemical peritonitis and inhibition of upstaging in cases of malignancy. Giant ovarian cystectomy can be performed transumbilically after aspiration , but micro leakage might occur with this method. Our case involved a giant ovarian teratoma in a 50‐year‐old patient, and an advance age and the size of the teratoma are risk factors of malignant transformation, even when tumor markers and MRI are not indicative of malignancy.…”
