Objectives: This study was conducted to assess and compare the effect of platelets rich fibrin (PRF) versus mineralized plasmatic matrix (MPM) as bone regenerative materials during immediate implant placement. Material and Methods: A total of 10 patients with 12 implants have been included in this study, patients were divided into 2 groups. Group I received Mineralized Plasmatic Matrix (MPM), and group II received Platelets Rich Fibrin (PRF) as bone regenerative materials for immediate implant placement. The treatment outcome was evaluated clinically and radiographically at 3 and 6 months of implant placement. Also bone height and bone density were measured radiographically preoperatively, immediate post operatively, at 3 and 6 months postoperatively and statistically analysed. Results: Statistical analysis showed that bone density increased significantly (p≤0.05) at 3, and 6 months postoperatively in both groups. By comparing the two groups, Group I had statistically significant (p≤0.05) higher bone density scores than Group II at all of the follow up intervals. Regarding the bone height, there was no statistically significant difference (P ≥ 0.05) between the two groups at all of the follow up intervals except that group I showed a statistically significant (P ≥ 0.05) higher mesial bone height level at 3and 6 months postoperatively accompanied by a statistically significant (P ≥ 0.05) higher distal bone level as well at 6 months postoperatively than that of group II. Conclusion: The use of MPM was more superior to PRF as bone regenerative material for immediate implant placement regarding bone height and bone density.

Objective: This study aimed to radiographic evaluation of two different bar attachments (bar/locator and bar/ball) for mandibular overdenture supported by 2 implants after 5-year period. Subjects and Methods: For this study, ten completely edentulous participants were selected. Each participant received two dental implants at mandibular canine regions. They were divided into two equal groups: Group I: Each patient received overdentures with bar/locator attachment. Group II: Each patient received overdentures with bar/ball attachment. The vertical marginal bone loss was evaluated using digital peri-apical radiographs over 5-year period. Results: There was a statistically insignificant difference between group I and group II in vertical marginal bone loss after 1 year. However, after five years follow up there was a statistically significant difference between both groups as marginal bone loss was found to be more in group I than that in group II. Conclusion: Bar/ball attachment offers better results in vertical marginal bone loss than bar/locator attachment. Bar locator preferred to be used with four-implants overdenture instead of two-implants to decrease bone loss around implants. It is mandatory to perform monitoring follow-up to avoid any harmful effect on implant and/or residual ridge, maintaining the prosthesis/attachment/ tissue relation to assure proper functional load distribution to avoid further bone resorption.

Observation of the effect on immediate mandibular implant-supported overdenture of micro implant system of Italy

The study was design to investigate the clinical effect of Micro implant system in Italy on immediate mandibular implant-supported overdenture. A total of 192 patients with mandibular edentulous treated in our hospital were randomly divided into 2 groups in which the control group consisted of 96 patients treated with immediate mandibular implant-supported overdenture by Xive implant system, while the observation group included 96 cases treated with the overdenture by Italy Micro implant system. Patients were followed up for 1 year and then the states of implant-borne overdentures, marginal bone resorption around alveolar bone, the compatibility of implant restorations with adjacent teeth, adverse events and satisfaction degree were compared between the groups. According to the results of 1-year follow-up, the resorption around alveolar bone of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (p<0.05). In the observation group the differences in labial gingival margin position, gingival color and texture were significantly better (p<0.05) as compared to control group. The incidence of adverse events was notably lower (p<0.05). The Italy Micro implant system has significant curative effect on mandibular implant-supported overdentures with good compatibility of the implant restorations with adjacent teeth and low incidence rate of adverse reactions, so it is worthy of clinical application and spreading.
