Siw 2d Planar Array With Four Cross Slots Radiator and Tuning Vias

Abstract: Abstract-A Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) planar array is presented using a right handed circularly polarized (RHCP) element with four crossed tilted radiating slots. In addition, a pair of metallic tuning vias is included to really improve the reflection of longest slots. A corporate feeding network over SIW has been designed for distributing the input signal to 128 radiating elements, divided into 8 progressive wave linear arrays of 16 elements each. The designed planar array has been manufactured and … Show more

“…Main beam tilt angles at 11 and 12 GHz are −3.5°and 3.5°, respectively. Therefore the usable bandwidth is reduced to 6% (11.15 -11.85 GHz) under ±2.5°beamtilt criteria [18]. The obtained 6% usable bandwidth is wider in comparison with [18] (3%) and [19] (2.5%).…”

“…Therefore the usable bandwidth is reduced to 6% (11.15 -11.85 GHz) under ±2.5°beamtilt criteria [18]. The obtained 6% usable bandwidth is wider in comparison with [18] (3%) and [19] (2.5%). This improvement is because of the lower effective dielectric constant (ε reff = 1.177) in the RWFN which leads to wider bandwidth under the same main beam tilt criteria.…”
