Six-Year Experience With Talent Stent-Graft Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

Abstract: The Talent Endoprosthesis was an efficient alternative for managing AAAs, achieving low morbidity and mortality rates and a good long-term clinical outcome in this study. The Talent Endoprosthesis did not present signs of material fatigue over a 6-year follow-up.

“…12,13 It needs to be acknowledged that, although decreasing the reintervention rate after EVAR also is a major goal of new stent grafts, the reintervention rate in this patient group after 1 year was comparable to the reintervention rate of other stent grafts. 11,14,15 Three access site-related problems were reported in this study, and the iliac limb occlusion rate was also 3%, which is slightly higher than in other stent grafts. In the past, while using other stent grafts for AAA treatment, we were used to treating iliac stenosis conservatively if patients were asymptomatic and if the stent graft outflow was symmetric on completion angiography.…”

“…9,18 Survival rates of 92.7% to 95.4% at 1 year and 50% to 80.3% at 5 years have been reported. 16,19 In a European multicenter study, the perioperative mortality was 1.8%, with only one ARM (0.3%) during a mean follow-up of 25 months, with cumulative reintervention rates of 6%, 8%, 13%, and 16% at 1, 2, 3, and 4 years, respectively, and a graft migration rate of 2.4% of patients/year. 20 Furthermore, the Talent abdominal stent graft demonstrates adequate performance compared with other stent grafts, particularly in patients who have challenging anatomy at the aortic fixation site.…”

“…13,14 Previous reports evaluating the safety of the Talent stent graft demonstrate satisfactory results with low complication rates. [15][16][17] The initial reports of the pivotal trial indicated a deployment success rate of 98.7% and device or procedure related complications of only 3.7%. 9,18 Survival rates of 92.7% to 95.4% at 1 year and 50% to 80.3% at 5 years have been reported.…”
