“…The research conducted by the Management System Evaluation Areas (MSEA) in Missouri showed that the use of a variable N application rate, based on the depth of top soil above clay pan, reduced nitrogen fertilizer use by 15% while giving similar grain production as with uniform N management on clay pan soils . A study conducted on yield variability within a central Iowa field suggested that implementation of precision farming practices will reveal both difficulties, i.e., application of site-specific inputs, and opportunities, i.e., increase in net returns and environmental protection (Colvin et al, 1997 has demonstrated in one study that by spraying just the mapped weed patches, herbicide use was reduced by 65% (Kvien et al, 1995). SSM reduced fertilizer inputs by 20 to 30% and improved nitrogen-input efficiency by 10 to 20% for com production in another study (Kitchen et al, 1994).…”

“…(Cressie, 1991) because yield was not normally distributed whereas the interquartile range (Mood et al, 1975) was used as an estimate of . As robust estimators, the median and interquartile range reduce the impact of outliers and nonnormality on the calculation of (Colvin, et al, 1997). These normalized yield data were used in developing the correlation matrix, performing multiple regression analysis (stepwise), and in generating data layers for GIS application.…”

“…This indicates that the limited-information BLUP (4.5) is a much better predictor of the factor H^i(s) than is Z3(s}. in southeastern Boone County, Iowa (Colvin, et al, 1997). r; i,j € (...,-1,0,1,- , c = 1,..., 9, d = 1,..., 9, and E is negligible as n 00.…”

“…Segundo Tschiedel (2002) (COLVIN et al, 1996;STAFFORD, 1996). A crescente preocupação com fatores ambientais também foi um fato que impulsionou a utilização desse conceito, identificado em trabalhos de alguns autores que usaram a técnica com a preocupação da qualidade da água (BLACKMER E SCHEPERS, 1996).…”
