ResumenEl presente artículo expone una revisión del desarrollo histórico y estado actual de las publicaciones científicas seriadas en psicología en Chile. Para determinar el análisis de las revistas se realizó una recuperación de las mismas por medio de su solicitud de ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), lo cual arrojó un resultado de 39 revistas clasificadas en la categoría psicología. De la cantidad total de revistas, 14 siguen vigentes y la mitad de ellas se encuentran indizadas en bases de datos como Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO y Redalyc. Se concluye que una mayor preocupación por potenciar los índices bibliométricos y cienciométricos de las revistas, permitirá mejorar las indizaciones de las revistas de psicología y de esta forma contribuir al mejoramiento de la calidad, visibilidad e impacto de estas tanto en Chile como en el resto de Latinoamérica. AbstractThis article is a review of the historical and current state of the periodical scientific publications about psychology in Chile. In order to choose the journals, a search of these journals was made through the ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), which found 39 journals classified in the category of "psychology". From the total number of journals, 14 are still being published and half of them are indexed in databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO and Redalyc. Based on this analysis, it is possible to conclude that it is necessary to promote and enhance bibliometric and scienciometric indexes of journals, which will improve the indexing of psychology journals, and thus contribute to the improvement of the quality, visibility and impact of these magazines, both in Chile and the rest of Latin America.

Este artigo analisa as condições e efeitos históricos da realização do VI Congresso Interamericano de Psicologia (VI CIP) no Rio de Janeiro (1959). Durante o final da década de 1950, o Brasil vivia um período de euforia desenvolvimentista nos planos econômico e cultural e de emergência de uma nova imagem do Brasil para o mundo. Foi também um período marcado pela criação dos primeiros cursos de graduação em Psicologia (a partir de 1953), bem como das negociações políticas que culminaram na regulamentação legal da profissão de psicólogo (1962). As fontes consultadas foram os Anais do VI CIP, contendo listas de participantes e resumos dos trabalhos apresentados, bem como publicações de imprensa que retratavam a cobertura midiática do congresso. O VI CIP teve 409 congressistas provenientes de 13 países, sendo 254 mulheres e 151 homens, além de 4 pessoas não identificadas. Percebe-se que a realização do VI CIP foi um marco de impulso para a Psicologia enquanto profissão emergente no Brasil, ao mesmo tempo que a repercussão pública do evento contribuiu tanto para a visibilidade desta ciência no meio interno, quanto para a divulgação da produção psicológica brasileira a nível continental.

Psychology in Latin America, its development, and main contributors have not received the attention they deserve among the scientific and professional English-speaking communities. The present study analyzes the contributions to psychology in Latin America made by the recipients of the Interamerican Psychology award in the Spanish or Portuguese category, granted by the Interamerican Society of Psychology. The award, instituted in 1976 and named Rogelio Díaz Guerrero since 2007, recognizes psychologists who have advanced the discipline as a science and profession in the Americas. To date, SIP has granted 26 such awards. This qualitative study identifies commonalities and singularities in the contributions made by the first 26 awardees. The commonalities were organized around three overlapping themes: social responsiveness, intersectionality of psychology and culture, and international engagement. The singularities were systematized into two overlapping themes: development of historically underdeveloped topics, and discipline transformations. Each theme is defined and illustrated accordingly. The commitment to advancing social justice and increasing the relevance of psychology in addressing social issues by the awardees as a whole stands out as an important characteristic of psychology in Latin America.
