Size, Shape, Prominence and Localization of Gerdy's Tubercle in Dry Human Tibial Bones

The aim of the study is to create awareness about neck and upper extremity pain caused by work related risk factors. Work related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD) are defined as injuries or disorders of musculoskeletal tissues associated with workplace related risk factors. Work related musculoskeletal disorders are also known as cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive strain injuries or overuse injuries. Work related musculoskeletal disorders of the neck are more common among people who spend a great deal of time using computers. Musculoskeletal disorders are the most common causes of long term sick leave and disability pension in several industrial countries. A questionnaire was created with a set of 19 questions related to their type of occupation, amount of stress, any musculoskeletal disorders due to stress, and about the awareness of musculoskeletal disorders. 100 random participants of adults and middle aged population were selected for the study. Random sampling method was done. The participants were asked to fill the questionnaire in an online site using Google forms. The results were collected and statistically analyzed. 22% of the participants have heavy work stress and 36% have moderate amount of work stress. 12% of the participants experience neck or upper extremity pain very often which is followed by 24% experiencing it often. 63% of the respondents agree with the fact that a small walk every 40 minutes between work will reduce work related neck or upper extremity pain. This survey aims in creating awareness among people about work related risk factors on the development of neck and upper extremity pain in the adult and middle aged population.

Osteoarthritis is one of the major problems that are faced by the people in developed countries but also present all over the world. There are so many factors that affect the cause of osteoarthritis, majorly it is found to be age, sex, occupation and much more. The increase in BMI can increase the probability of development of osteoarthritis. The study has been conducted among the Chennai population involving 100 participants. Self-administered questionnaire is circulated through online mode and the responses have been collected. It was observed that the majority of the people participated were aware of osteoarthritis and that obesity, heredity and age are the major cause of osteoarthritis of the knee joint. It is concluded that people though have awareness of osteoarthritis, the knowledge about the risk factors, the effects and future problems caused by knee joint osteoarthritis remains sparse among the population. the probable risk factors of knee osteoarthritis such as age, sedentary lifestyle and obesity, unhealthy diet and heredity seems to play a key role in knee OA and has to be considered seriously for the prevention and management of this disease. Upon considering these aspects people can have a good approach towards the disease and its management which serves as the basic requirement of proper lifestyle for betterment of life.

Knowledge and Attitude of UG Dental Students about Nanotechnology in Dentistry

The term nano is derived from a Greek word ‘nannos’ which means dwarf. Nanotechnology is the science that deals with physical, chemical and biological properties of structures at the nanoscale. Nanotechnology is used in science, biotechnology, computer technology, electronics, agriculture, household as well as dentistry. Nanotechnology was used in dentistry in the early 1970s in microfilled composites comprising particles less than 100nm diameter. In recent times the composite particles are used that range from 20-600nm. In dentistry it is mainly used in restoration, orthodontic treatment and injecting local anesthesia and has many other uses. The main aim of nanotechnology in dentistry is to prevent any oral disease rather than treating it. The aim of the study is to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of UG dental students about nanotechnology in dentistry. A cross-sectional prospective survey was created in google docs with a questionnaire containing 15 questions, and the link was shared to 100 UG dental students. The results were analysed and represented as a pie chart and bar diagrams. Majority of (60%) of them were aware about nanotechnology, and few were not aware (40%). 46% of students were aware of the use of nanotechnology in dentistry, and 52% of participants felt it nanomaterials was not affordable. From the results obtained, the knowledge and attitude among Undergraduate dental students about nanotechnology in dentistry was found to be average.
