Abstract:Background: Exercise training is thought to improve the mitochondrial energy efficiency of skeletal muscle. Some studies suggest exercise training increases the efficiency for ATP synthesis by oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), but the molecular mechanisms are unclear.
