Skin autofluorescence is elevated in acute myocardial infarction and is associated with the one-year incidence of major adverse cardiac events

Abstract: BACKGROUND.: ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is associated with increased inflammation and oxidative stress, enhancing the formation of advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs). These encompass a characteristic fluorescence pattern, which can be non-invasively measured as skin autofluorescence (AF).
