Skyline Computation for Improving Naïve Bayesian Classifier in Intrusion Detection System

Abstract: Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are critical to network security. However, there are some common defects with the existing IDSs, namely, low detection rate of rare attacks and high number of false alarms. Many have suggested solving these defects by integrating different IDSs techniques, but the effectiveness has not been justified. This paper puts forward a two-layer hybrid IDS based on Skyline operator and Naï ve Bayesian classifier. First, the most suitable classifier was identified through Skyline compu… Show more

“…The solution is based on secure remote cryptographic protocols, blockchain technology and threshold cryptography theory. Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) is deployed as a consensus mechanism in On the blockchain, studies have shown that the proposed scheme outperforms many existing schemes in terms of computational overhead and storage requirements, and does not affect the security level of the system [5]. In order to overcome the problems of lack of accuracy and operability in data classification of existing technologies, researchers such as Seo J H have developed a new algorithm called MB Ferns and the R package to build a multi-branch decision tree and use the data obtained from the training data.…”

“…In authors [113] use the skyline operator as a filtering approach in a classification task over biological data. In terms of identifying the best candidate solutions authors of [114] try to identify the most suitable classifier in terms of accuracy, detection rate and false alarm rate using the skyline operator. Finally, in the work [115,116] presented in this Thesis the skyline operator is used to estimate the decision boundaries in a classification process.…”
