“…Embracing the rhetoric of progress (as opposed to Palestinians' ‘backwardness’), Israel methodically invests in the erection of Jewish settlements, pavement of Israeli‐only roads, and establishment of nature reserves and special security zones in the West Bank. This process, indirectly, produces ‘the systematic degeneration of Palestinian urban areas’, shaping ‘the everyday experience of inhabitants of many towns, villages, and neighbourhoods, seriously reconfiguring their life routines, negatively affecting the community's fabric, impairing urban development, and generating a damaging impact on the natural environment and people's well‐being’ (Golańska, 2022, p. 125).
