The aim of this study is fire hazard zoning the Chehel-Chay watershed and analysis of road network in order to fire-fighting management. Using effective factors on fire occurrence, the fire hazard map of the study area produced by support vector machine algorithm and then was divided into four hazard classes. The road length and type were investigated in the each fire hazard classes. The results showed that most of occurred fires are located in the close distances of roads and forest areas. The results showed that road types and land cover are important in fire occurrences and suppression. In high dangerous zone, the roads pass through forestlands, but in low dangerous zone, the roads are passing from farmlands. The roads do not cover the half of area and do not pass at two third of high hazard class zones. Therefore, appreciate road network planning is necessary according to fire-fighting management.

Globally, fire causes considerable losses that can be alleviated by taking appropriate actions facilitated by systems supported by geo-information technologies. This research focuses upon the development of an approach for planning urban infrastructures, and particularly in the accessibility of fire hydrants. Accessibility of fire hydrants’ infrastructure in urban territories is one of the key elements in fire risk management and public safety. The main result of the research is a comprehensive and structured Geographic Information Systems (GISs)-based dataset for the fast and more efficient planning of fire hydrants in urban territories. The proposed framework for data collection and processing was used to determine the distribution of hydrants, location of fire brigade stations and areas and to demonstrate the capabilities of the existing municipal fire extinguishing systems in Vilnius City, Lithuania. Later on, research on fire hydrants’ accessibility, analysis of the location of protected and unprotected urban territories and marking of unprotected buildings, was carried out. The resulting map of unprotected urban territories can be of great benefit for understanding fire risks and offering more effective ways for fire risk management.

As a renewable energy source that is environmentally friendly and cost-effective, the hydropower potential of Serbia represents a valuable common good and notable economic force in a development strategy of the country. It is an important component of the country's overall energy balance, both at present and in the future. Seventy-seven percent of the hydropower potential of Serbia is technically and economically usable, based on the present energy situation in the country, the latest technical advances, and economic criteria. Out of this amount, eight percent could be generated in small-scale hydropower plants, with an installed capacity less than 10 MW. In order to promote acquisition of Green Certificates, stimulate the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects and facilitate the Certified Emission Reduction (CER) trading, Serbia is shifting its development strategy towards renewable energy sources, particularly small-scale HPPs. The necessary project documentation has been prepared, nearly 1,000 potential locations for small-scale HPPs have been identified, and the legislative framework is being synchronized with a world-accepted practice in this field. This paper presents some technical possibilities for the construction of smallscale HPPs in Serbia. The attention is focused on the specific conditions, statistical parameters, and the legislative framework of the country.
