Lift Loss In HoverT HE LARGEST hovering lift losses generally occur close to the ground.However, even when the aircraft is out-of-ground effect the entrainment action of the jet(s) can induce a significant download.The estimates of the effects of ground proximity on the suckdown in hover and the estimates of the jet-induced effects in transition, out-of-ground effect, should reduce to the out-of-ground effect level at altitude and in hover, respectively. The lift loss at altitude is therefore presented first.
