PurposeThis study aims to explore the impact of blockchain announcements on enterprises' stock market value.Design/methodology/approachBased on resource-based theory, this study constructs a complete framework of the impact mechanism of blockchain announcements on the stock price of the announcing firm using the data of 143 blockchain announcements. An event study methodology is used in this research, and the market model, market-adjusted model and Carhart four-factor model are used to estimate stock abnormal returns after the blockchain announcement; and the cross-sectional regression model is used to test the influencing factors.FindingsBlockchain announcements elicit a significantly positive market reaction on the release day. Compared to announcements not pertaining to technical innovation, blockchain technical innovation announcements exhibit a more positive market reaction towards the announcing companies. Strategic-level announcements exhibit a more positive market reaction than operational-level announcements. Enterprise characteristics, such as enterprise-scale and enterprise innovation ability, do not affect stock market reactions to blockchain announcements.Practical implicationsThe findings reveal the economic value of conducting blockchain activities in the Chinese stock market. Findings of this study can help managers understand the value of implementing blockchain activities in a different market environment and guide them on how to improve the market value of their enterprises through the active implementation of blockchain activities.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first event study to focus solely on the value of pure blockchain announcements in an emerging market. This study considers multiple resource and capability factors that would influence blockchain technology adoption, improve the current understanding of how blockchain announcements affect corporate stock prices and provide directions for future comparative studies of market reactions to blockchain announcements in different stock markets.

This study investigated the role of organizational strategic intuition (OSI) and relationships with knowledge-based dynamic capabilities (KBDCs), digital transformation (DT), and high-performance organizations (HPOs). This quantitative study used a questionnaire to collect data from chief executive officers (CEOs) and engineers of various companies in the auto parts industry, a crucial income-generator for Thailand. Partial least squares structural equation modeling, which assesses reflective and structural models, was adopted to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed significant influences among the six pairs of constructed relationships. Indeed, investigations found in this study indicated that (1) KBDCs had a positive effect on DT; (2) KBDCs and DT had a positive effect on OSI; and (3) KBDCs, DT, and OSI had a positive effect on HPOs. The analytical results of this empirical study also provided information to expand the knowledge of strategic intuition (SI). The practical contribution of this study is a consolidated comprehensive framework of OSI that contained vital insights for CEOs, policymakers, and practitioners to support the creation of OSI, leading to better strategic decisions.

The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of Information Systems Usage on Supply Chain. Information systems involve creating specific environment for the fulfilment of organizational strategy. However, information system affords an organization an enormous benefit that materializes in the long-run. Unfortunately, realization of information system is also accompanied with risk which mostly deters management from taking the initiative hence missing out on the intended benefits of implementing information system usage in organizations. Without overemphasizing the crucial role played by information system in the supply chain performance, this study seeks to focus on investigating the effect of Explorative Information Systems Usage and Exploitative Information Systems Usage on Supply Chain Performance. Even though Information Systems is an increasingly important element of academic research and discussions, there seems to be no consensus in the extant literature on the impact of information systems (IS) usage on the supply chain. Most importantly the study investigates moderating functions of supply chain integration (SCI) and managerial commitment (MC). Survey instruments were collected from manufacturing companies in Ghana. Simple random sampling was used to select 100 companies of which 1,300 respondents were identified, and questionnaires were administered. The study showed that Managerial Commitment, Explorative Information Systems Usage, and Exploitative Information Systems Usage impact significantly and positively on Supply Chain Performance. Additionally, the findings concluded that Supply Chain Integration, specifically operational integration significantly and positively mediates the relationship between the usage of Information Systems and Performance of Supply Chain. In this regard, these results imply that operational integration between partners can help influence the performance of supply chains.
