Smartphone-Based Wearable Gait Monitoring System Using Wireless Inertial Sensors

Abstract: This paper presents a wearable virtual reality system with a wireless network of inertial sensors for lower limb monitoring. The system comprises seven sensor nodes sending data wirelessly to a master node. The information is then collected, organized, and sent to a screening device via a serial interface. An application executed either on a smartphone or a personal computer features an avatar which represents the received data and mimics the sensed movements of the patient, providing online feedback during an… Show more

“…A student-controlled educational environment becomes more interactive than a traditional classroom setting [21]. Virtual reality technologies provide opportunities to streamline teaching and learning and optimize learning [22][23][24][25]. They guides the student with applications created with technology and provide a basis for permanent learning, especially with the ability to practice in subjects that have been presented or explained theoretically.…”

“…In the context of gait rehabilitation, the knee joint angle is one of the main parameters to analyze biomechanical factors [3], identifying deficiencies or abnormalities, and guiding the development of targeted rehabilitation strategies [4]. Recently, motion capture (Mocap) systems have been increasingly adopted for gait analyzing equipment, offering enhanced precision in measuring joint angles.…”
