Abstract:In the ancient microbial Wood-Ljungdahl pathway, CO2is fixed in a multi-step process ending with acetyl-CoA synthesis at the bifunctional carbon monoxide dehydrogenase/acetyl-CoA synthase complex (CODH/ACS). Here, we present catalytic snapshots of the CODH/ACS from the gas-converting acetogenClostridium autoethanogenum, characterizing the molecular choreography of the overall reaction including electron transfer to the CODH for CO2reduction, methyl transfer from the corrinoid iron-sulfur protein (CoFeSP) partn… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
