Abstract: The Abyei area, which straddles the border of the two Sudans, had been a theatre of war since 1965. In 2016, the Amiet market emerged from a remote forest grove to initiate a new kind of social contract making. “…There is varied evidence on the ways in which social capital is used to the benefit of women. A study shows how social capital dynamics, which vary with age and gender, played a role in the nature of conflict and cooperation in a market area in Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan which has been a "theater of war" since 1965 (Furukawa and Deng, 2019).
