Background and Objectives:Tuberculosis is an ancient disease, but it is still considered a public health problem. It is estimat-ed that one third of the world's population is contaminated by the bacillus, of which 9.27 mil-lion become ill and 2 million die annually. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the cases of hospitalizations from pulmonary tuberculosis in Bahia between 2010 and 2014, regarding the sociodemographic characteristics and hospitalization costs. Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional epidemiological study based on hospital morbidity and mortality data related to pulmonary tuberculosis in Bahia between 2010 and 2014. The data were obtained through the Hospital Information System (SIH), which are made available and consolidated in the Depart-ment of Informatics of the Brazilian Unified Health System (DATASUS). Results: During the assessed years, 5,488 cases of hospitalization from pulmonary tuberculosis were recorded in Ba-hia by the SIH/SUS, corresponding to 0.16% of cases of overall hospitalizations in this period. Pulmonary tuberculosis occupies the first position as a cause of hospitalization, representing 90.6% (n = 5,488), with a higher prevalence of hospitalizations and deaths among the male population, aged between 30 and 59 years old, and of ignored ethnicity/race. In-hospital lethali-ty was higher among women and in the elderly.
