“…Οι Richardson et al, (2009) επισημαίνουν πως ο βασικότερος λόγος για τον οποίο οι μαθητές της οικείας ομάδας «παλεύουν» κοινωνικά απορρέει από το γεγονότος πως δεν έχουν διδαχθεί ποτέ επαρκείς κοινωνικές δεξιότητες και συμπεριφορές. Επίσης, ο Schwab (2015), μελετώντας περίπου 1.100 μαθητές στην Αυστρία με Ε.Ε.Α, διαπίστωσε πως σε σχέση με τους τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενους μαθητές, οι μαθητές με αναπηρίες είχαν μικρότερα ποσοστά κοινωνικών διαδράσεων, κοινωνικής αποδοχής όπως και μειωμένα επίπεδα αυτο-αντίληψης της κοινωνικής συμμετοχής. Στον αντίποδα, η ανάλυση των εμπειρικών δεδομένων της μελέτης των Holahan & Costenbader (2000) κατέδειξε πως οι «συμπεριλαμβανόμενοι» μαθητές με αναπηρίες είχαν παρουσιάσει υψηλότερα ποσοστά κοινωνικών και συναισθηματικών δεξιοτήτων έναντι των μη «συμπεριλαμβανόμενων» σπουδαστών.…”

Η Συμπερίληψη, αντιτιθέμενη σε αφομοιωτικά ημίμετρα προηγούμενων πολιτικών, εμφανίστηκε στο σύγχρονο νεωτερισμό σε μια προσπάθεια εκρίζωσης των πιέσεων αποκλεισμού που βίωναν τα παιδιά με αναπηρίες ή Ειδικές Εκπαιδευτικές Ανάγκες (Ε.Ε.Α). Σήμερα, η Συμπερίληψη αναγνωρίζεται ως παιδαγωγικό εργαλείο κοινωνικο-γνωστικής ενθάρρυνσης όλων των μαθητών (με και χωρίς αναπηρίες) για την προώθηση της οποίας καθοριστικό ρόλο διαδραματίζει ο εκπαιδευτικός. Ως εκ τούτου, η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη επιχειρεί διαμέσου της κριτικής επισκόπησης της βιβλιογραφίας να παρουσιάσει τα διάχυτα οφέλη της Συμπερίληψης των μαθητών με αναπηρίες τόσο για τα παιδιά της θεωρούμενης ως μη τυπικής ανάπτυξης όσο και για τους τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενους συμμαθητές τους σε μια προσπάθεια να ενημερώσει τους εκπαιδευτικούς και συνάμα να προσανατολίσει την κουλτούρα, την πολιτική και την πρακτική τους σε άξονες πιο συμπεριληπτικούς. Υποστηρίζεται πως μια τέτοια ουμανιστική προσέγγιση προς τη διαφορετικότητα δε θα ευνοήσει μοναχά την κοινωνικο-γνωστική ενθάρρυνση του συνόλου των μαθητών αλλά επίσης και τον κοινωνικά δίκαιο μετασχηματισμό του σύγχρονου σχολείου.

Children with special educational needs often feel lonely in classrooms, are less accepted by their classmates and have fewer friendships. Their classmates’ positive attitudes towards them are important for their social participation in inclusive classrooms. According to the theory of social referencing, children’s attitudes towards peers with special educational needs are influenced by the role model behaviour of their parents. Therefore, we examined the relevance of children’s perceptions of parental behaviour in terms of their attitudes towards peers with learning disabilities. This was done by investigating N = 753 children’s attitudes, depending on their perceptions of parental behaviour towards peers with special educational needs, their contact experiences and their self‐efficacy beliefs concerning their interpersonal skills. The results indicate that their attitudes are predicted by their perceptions of parental behaviour, their contact experiences and their self‐efficacy beliefs. The effect of perceived parental behaviour on children’s attitudes is mediated by their self‐efficacy beliefs.
