is a researcher and faculty member of the Programme for PostGraduate Studies in Information Science operated by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) in conjunction with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She holds a PhD in communication and culture from UFRJ. Recent publications include the book Pierre Bourdieu e a produção social da cultura, do conhecimento e da informação (Pierre Bourdieu and the Social Production of Culture, Knowledge and Information), Rio de Janeiro: Ed. Fiocruz, in press, and journal articles about information and communication devices in health. Topics of interest include narratives and social networks, social production, organization and mediations of knowledge in domains and social fields. Lidiane Carvalho is an assistant professor of library and information science at the Federal Rio de Janeiro State University (Unirio) and Researcher in Public Health at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). She received her doctorate in information science from Federal Rio de Janeiro University (UFRJ). Her recent publications include a book chapter entitled "Socio cultural approach of scientific knowledge production" (Pierre Bourdieu e a produção social da cultura, do conhecimento e da informação (Pierre Bourdieu and the Social Production of Culture, Knowledge and Information), Rio de Janeiro: Ed. Fiocruz, in press). Her current research interests include the sociology of science, information science and technology, social networks analysis and management information.
