Water buffaloes have morphological and behavioral characteristics for efficient thermoregulation. However, their health, welfare, and productive performance can be affected by GW. The objective of this review was to analyze the adverse effects of GW on the productive behavior and health of water buffaloes. The physiological, morphological, and behavioral characteristics of the species were discussed to understand the impact of climate change and extreme meteorological events on buffaloes’ thermoregulation. In addition, management strategies in buffalo farms, as well as the use of infrared thermography as a method to recognize heat stress in water buffaloes, were addressed. We concluded that heat stress causes a change in energy mobilization to restore animal homeostasis. Preventing hyperthermia limits the physiological, endocrine, and behavioral changes so that they return to thermoneutrality. The use of fans, sprinklers, foggers, and natural sources of water are appropriate additions to current buffalo facilities, and infrared thermography could be used to monitor the thermal states of water buffaloes.

Salinity is a major abiotic stress that limits the growth and development of plants, and is no special to tomato. Scientists are in constant search for natural remedies against abiotic stress affecting crops worldwide. Beneficial microbes are abundantly available in nature, and if employed rationally, bound to benefit micro-biota of soil. Trichoderma sp. stimulates plant growth and resistance to a varied range of adverse environmental conditions. The present study demonstrates the effect of two Trichoderma asperellum isolates (T4 and T8) in alleviating the deleterious effects of varying concentrations of NaCl (0-200 mM) stress in tomato. Treatment with T. asperellum isolates reduced the effect of stress and tomato seedlings showed significant improvement in seed germination; shoot and root length, shoot and root fresh weight, plant dry weight and chlorophyll content along with decrease in seedling death as compared to control. The T. asperellum treatments in tomato plants under NaCl stress also significantly increased the soluble sugar and protein. The antioxidant enzymes, CAT, POX, SOD and APX in tomato seedlings also significantly increased with T. asperellum treatment, as compared to control. These results prove T. asperellum to be beneficial in imparting NaCl stress tolerance in tomato and a new paradigm for developing environmentally safe alternative for improvement of NaCl stress tolerance.

Background: Buffaloes are economically important in particular region and also buffalo milk are nutritionally rich. In Konkan region, buffalo should be rarely used only to get female buffalo for milk production. To improve the non-descript buffalo population for milk production and reproduction performance. Methods: During survey period January, 2021 to February, 2021, record of 400 non-descript buffalo, 270 non-descript buffalo having more than 4 years age old to be selected. Result: The average daily milk yield, peak milk yield, total lactation milk yield, lactation length and dry period in non-descript buffaloes were 6.45±0.16 liters, 7.6±0.14 liters, 2007.66±45.83 liters, 302.86±0.34 days and 146.66±0.48 days, respectively. The average age at first calving, calving interval, service period, gestation period and number of calving were 45.96±0.18 months, 449.30±0.53 days, 128.86±0.31 days, 303.66±0.49 days, 2.72±0.12 numbers, respectively and autumn season of calving was more than another season.
