“…While Rege and the SPPU Centre have been largely responsible for such work within women’s studies, it would be remiss to note the work of feminist sociologists on the subject in recent years. There have been quite a few efforts by feminist sociologists to engage with feminist pedagogy, from their location as feminist scholars teaching feminist courses in mainstream sociology departments (Chadha, 2016; Chari Wagh, 2018; Chaudhuri, 2002; Pujari, 2017; Rayaprol, 2011; Rege, 1995). In my view, one of the reasons for this pattern is the relative institutional stability of disciplines, whereby women’s studies degrees have been overwhelmed with establishing academic status and teaching courses while constantly struggling for both institutional existence and resources.…”
