Socrates (Sokrates)

Abstract: Socrates was a pivotal figure in the history of western philosophy – the first one who “called philosophy down from the heavens,” turning away from those now called “Presocratics.” Socrates also belongs to the history of Athens in the fifth century bce . His trial, imprisonment, and execution in 399 form one of its least glorious chapters.
