SoftCoDeR approach: promoting Software Engineering Academia-Industry partnership using CMD, DSR and ESE

Abstract: Background:The Academia-Industry partnership has been increasingly encouraged in the software development field. The main focus of the initiatives is driven by the collaborative work where the scientific research work meets the real needs of the Industry. Methods: Aiming to contribute to this effort we have proposed an approach called SoftCoDeR (Software Cooperative Design Research) that combines CMD (Cooperative Method Development), a method of Action Research, to concepts of DSR (Design Science Research). “…Through DSR activities both the relevance cycle, the design cycle and the rigor cycle could be updated iteratively. According to Rodríguez et al (2014) and Choma et al (2016), research in software development leads to a better product. This study, therefore, adds a knowledge base of using an extended DSR framework and agile methodology in the design and development phases.…”

“…In general, studies assess the techniques individually for specific contexts. Choma et al (2016) used Personas to facilitate the communication between the UX and Scrum teams due to differences in vocabulary. Furthermore, personas are recognized by UX practitioners as a good practice to keep the software development focus on the users' needs.…”
