The Importance of City Logistics for Urban Tourism Development: Searching for a New Research Field

This paper presents the results of a study on city logistics in the urban tourist area as a research field. Both disciplines are developing intensively, and the research results have many implications for business practices, in particular for alternative fuel for transport, energy savings, waste management, and creating new business models that meet the challenges of modern society. In the era of decarbonisation, city logistics and tourism must define new rules for coexistence. The identified dominant subfields (tourism, logistics, urban transport, urban development and planning, new technologies, and sustainable development) and the links between them have pointed to some research gaps and suggested a direction for further research. The research procedure applied, adapted to the overall goal of the study, consists of an analysis of publications in the Scopus database (February 2022). A keyword co-occurrence network for the research field of city logistics in the urban tourist area is constructed with the use of the VOSviewer software. It follows from the analysis that the research area combining city logistics and city tourism remains relatively unexplored. Forming only a small part of research into city logistics, it has unexplored research potential. The research area under analysis is interdisciplinary in nature.

A presente pesquisa apresenta uma análise bibliométrica e de conteúdo acerca do campo de estudo relacionado à logística e a utilização do software anyLogistix®. O objetivo dessa análise é realizar a verificação das seguintes questões, relacionadas às publicações nesse âmbito: (i) A evolução temporal das publicações; (ii) A distribuição das publicações por autor ao longo dos anos; (iii) Distribuição das publicações da amostra por país de origem; (iv) A distribuição das publicações por veículo de publicação. Além disso, pretende-se com essa pesquisa identificar e analisar as principais tendências desse campo de estudo, ressaltando os temas de maior destaque dentro da bibliometria. A bibliometria abrange artigos de todos os períodos de publicação encontrados na base de pesquisa considerada, até meados de 2022. Por meio da análise bibliométrica, o estudo oferece vários insights sobre as publicações relacionadas ao software anyLogistix®. O estudo também apresenta como resultado as temáticas mais abordadas em conjunto com a aplicação do software. Além disso, observa-se com a pesquisa que esse tema ainda é incipiente em publicações, e apesar de em 2020 o número de pesquisas publicadas terem aumentado consideravelmente, a partir de 2021 esse número decaiu novamente.

In the context of economic development and international economic integration, Vietnam’s logistics industry is developing to meet market demands for the transportation of goods; thus, many logistics enterprises have been formulated and expanded in recent years. This research aims to measure the efficiency of logistics enterprises and recommend a feasible solution to improve their future performance by integrating a super slack-based measure model (super-SBM) in data envelopment analysis and fuzzy analytic hierarchy processes (fuzzy AHP) in multi-criteria decision-making. The super-SBM model was utilized to conduct the efficiency scores of logistics enterprises from 2016 to 2022 based on calculating the ratio between input and output variables; the empirical result determined each enterprise’s effectiveness and ineffectiveness. Next, the fuzzy AHP method evaluated and ranked criteria that directly impacted the operational process of logistics enterprises based on experts’ opinions; the examined result suggested a feasible direction to improve future business efficiency. The proposed hybrid models are a helpful solution for efficiency determination and determining the development direction for logistics enterprises. An overall picture of the logistics enterprises was also drawn to describe their operational business process.
