Soil Drench with Fungicides Alternatives Against Root Rot Incidence of Some Vegetables Under Greenhouse Conditions

Abstract: Soil drench with furfural, Humic & Folic acid and/or bio-agents treatments were evaluated against root rot incidence of Cucumber, Cantaloupe, Tomato and Pepper in pot experiments. The pathogenic fungi, Fusarium solani, F. oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium rolfsii, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, S. minor, Macrophomina phaseolina, Alternaria solani and Pythium sp. As well as bio-agents, T. harzianum, T. viride, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens were used in this study. The obtained results reveale… Show more

“…Also, Humic acid (HA) suspensions based on potassium humates have been applied successfully in many areas of plant production as a plant growth stimulant or soil conditioner for enhancing natural resistance against plant diseases (Scheuerell and Mahaffee, 2004), stimulating plant growth through increased cell division, as well as optimizing uptake of nutrients and water and stimulating soil microorganisms (Chen et al, 2004). Several reports indicated the efficiency of HA in reducing some plant diseases (Yigit and Dikilitas, 2008, Abdel-Kader et al, 2012. The objective of this study was carried out to assess the efficacy of certain PGPR strains individually or combination with humic acid for the management tomato wilt disease as well as its effect on growth parameters, fruit yield and quality.…”

“…Evaluation of disease severity on a scale from (0 -4) the severity of the disease was recorded on rose plants in each cultivars for 40 days, once every 10 days The plants were visually evaluated for powdery mildew resistance using a class scale:0 = no leaf lesions; 1 = 25% or less; 2 = 26-50%; 3 = 51-75%; and 4 = 76-100% of the mature leaf area covered by mildew, according to Linde et al (2006) with some modifications. was calculated using the following equation, according to Abdel-Kader et al (2012):…”

“…These illnesses include the root rot and leaf spot diseases of tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, which are brought on by a variety of fungi, such as A. alternata and Rhizoctonia solani. By promoting plant systemic resistance to Fusarium solani and Macrophmina phaseolina, the severity of infection with pathogenic fungus was reduced (Abdel-Kader et al, 2012). The amount of phenols in the plant may rise when Trichoderma sp.…”
