Abstract:The concept of Agroecology is still not widely discussed in European countries. Therefore, the aim of this review is to present a qualitative and quantitative mixed analysis of this conceptualization based on research papers to provide initial answers to the following questions: How has the agroecology been used in terms of social movement, science and agricultural practice in the European countries? At which scales has it been applied? Which factors have influenced its application? Speech analysis and multivariable techniques are applied to systematized information. According to found results, the concept of agroecology is mainly conceived as science, then as practice and to a lesser degree as a social movement. There is a predominance of studies at plot level, with a tendency to include physical-biological factors; and at agroecosystem, regional and agri-food system levels, including designers, landscapes and consumers. There is a conceptual evolution in extensive quantitative and intensive qualitative standings when the agroecology incorporates more factors, such as economic, social, and, to a lesser extent, cultural and political, and becomes more transdisciplinary as a response to more complex phenomena that support the genesis and development of this concept. In this regard, a greater balance between its conceptions (science, practice and social movement) is recommended to achieve a better dialogue between abstract and empirical levels.

This study discusses sustainable agricultural production by land evaluation based on a multiple criteria approach. The study was carried out in the Bastam region located at the north Shahrood township of Semnan Province in the northeast of Iran. Soil, landscape and climatic data were collected to assess the study area based on its capability for cultivation of apple, tomato, wheat and white potato. Making the final decision for growing the most appropriate crop was based upon three criteria: (1) the physical suitability of the study area for crop cultivation; (2) environmental consideration; (3) economic benefit accruing from the production of each crop. The results of the assessment of the above criteria were incorporated using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. Ultimately, wheat was found to be the most suitable crop for cultivation considering all the criteria in the study area. This study, therefore, was a step taken towards promoting sustainable agriculture by trying to introduce as efficient an approach as possible in land use planning, and selecting the most sustainable ways to put the land to optimum use.

León jose.ramon@unileon.es RESUMENLa trufa negra (Tuber melanosporum) es un hongo que forma una asociación mutualista con determinadas especies hospedadoras que determina beneficios para ambos, disponibilizando carbohidratos para el hongo y mejorando la nutrición del hospedador mediante un aumento en la absorción de elementos químicos del suelo. La aptitud del terreno para la producción trufera viene determinada por sus condiciones geológicas, edafológicas (textura y composición química), climáticas (precipitación y temperatura), geográficas (altitud y orientación), y bióticas (vegetación y organismos competidores). Se ha generado un modelo que incluye todas estas variables y se ha implementado un Sistema de Información Geográfica que ha permitido zonificar el territorio de la provincia de León con el fin de determinar posibles zonas truferas. ABSTRACTThe black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) is the carpophore of a mushroom living associated with some forestry species in a mutuality relationship in which both partners has important benefits. The truffle obtains carbohydrates (photosyntates) from the plant, which has a best nutrition by increasing the mineral nutrition and implemented the water relations. The vocation of a place to allow the development of the black truffle depends of geologic, edaphologic (texture and chemical composition), climatic (precipitation and temperature), geographic (altitude and exposition), and biotic (vegetation and competitive organisms) features. According that and, using related available information, a model implemented with a Geographic Information System (GIS) was generated, allowing us the zonification of the Leon province to simplify the location of potential truffle zones.
