“…21 (Schmidtke, 1976b). Replacing the monochromator by narrow bandpass filters the in-flight calibration is repeatedly applied on demand as accomplished with the instrument Solar Auto-Calibrating EUV/UV Spectrometers (SolACES) aboard the payload SOLAR at 12 G. Schmidtke: Extreme ultraviolet spectral irradiance measurements the Columbus Module of the International Space Station (Schmidtke et al, 2006a(Schmidtke et al, , 2014 as shown in Figs. 22a-d.…”

“…The filter wheel with 48 apertures selects narrow intervals of the solar EUV spectrum for ionization chamber measurements. The gas reservoirs are structural elements of the instrument simultaneously (Schmidtke et al, 2006a; copyright permission granted by Elsevier publishing). With this pool of instrumentation two aspects of data accumulation are realized.…”

“…Two complementary instruments were integrated into the SOLAR payload, the Solar Auto Calibrating EUV/UV Sunphotometer (SolACES) and the SOlar Variable and Irradiance Monitor (SOVIM). SolACES measures the solar Extreme UltraViolet (EUV) irradiance from 16 nm to 150 nm (Schmidtke et al 2006). Radiometric calibration is maintained using current ionization chambers as primary detector standards.…”

“…They obtained an agreement within the uncertainty range with observations from the Solar EUV Experiment (SEE; Woods et al 2005) onboard the NASA Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) mission. More recently, Thuillier et al (2014) carried out a reconstruction of solar irradiance in various spectral bands over the solar spectrum, including the EUV as observed with the SolACES instrument (Schmidtke et al 2006a) onboard the ISS/SOLAR platform (Schmidtke et al 2006b). For the EUV reconstruction the authors employ the SOLMOD code (Haberreiter 2011) along with the segmentation of SDO/AIA images and find a reasonable agreement with the SolACES irradiance measurements.…”
