Sol-Gel Synthesis & Photoluminescence of Multiple Layer LaPO4 Nanostructure Thin Films

Abstract: The present paper reports on the structural properties of Lanthanum Phosphate (LaPO4) nanostructure film in term of its surface morphology. In this study, the LaPO4 samples were prepared by sol-gel spin coating method with different layers. Photoluminescent (PL) properties of the samples were investigated using FluoroMax-4 Spectrofluorometer - Horiba Scientific at room temperature with excitation spectra 254 nm. While its physical structural properties was investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM-XE100). Show more

“…When the number of multi layer increase, more LaPO 4 nanostructures were induce boosting the capability of multilayer to absorb photons and reradiates back the photons. This can be describe as an excitation to a higher energy state and then return to a lower energy state accompanied by the emission of a photon based on the result shown by emission spectra [2] .…”

“…With great properties such as very low solubility in water, high thermal stability, and high index of refraction make LaPO 4 as a useful host lattice for lanthanide ions to produce phosphors that emit in wide range of colors. Within nanosize we expected to increase the luminescence quantum efficiency and display resolution of thin films [2]. At nanometer size, these materials have high surface-to-volume ratio properties.…”
