Solar Distiller With Flat Plate Collector and Thermal Storage

Abstract: Two conventional solar distillers and a thermal storage system with flat plate collector are designed and fabricated at Shebin El-kom city, Egypt at Latitude of 30.58 o N and Longitude of 31.01 o E. The thermal storage system is used to collect the solar energy during daytime and store it in a thermally insulated water tank. Two types of experiments are conducted. Firstly, the productivity of conventional solar distiller through a daytime and night without heat recovery is measured. The second type prescribes … Show more

“…Shebin El-Kom city, Menoufia government is one of the most plentiful solar radiation towns in Egypt. Such a region is well-endowe with solar energy and has significant solar radiation, particularly during the summer months [28]. The intensity of sun radiation reached to (1014 W/m 2 ) in the noon during Augest, the time of the study.…”

“…An aqueous solution of 2 L of dye-containing wastewater was used and the prepared Fenton reagent was added to the system of a real natural sun activation pilot scale solar reactor assembled at city of Shebin El-Kom which is located 75 kms north of Cairo. The coordinates of the place are 30°58′N and 31°01′E, with an elevation of 11 m above sea level (Farahat et al 2016;Tony and Mansour 2020b). The solar reactor system is consists of: (i) tubular silica glass tube that are completely transparent to acquire the sunlight; (ii) a parabolic trough-concentrating collector made of stainless-steel reflecting sheet; (iii) Peristaltic pump (Shenchen, model LABN6) with a maximum flow rate of 2280 mL min −1 that provides circulation; (iv) 1/2-inch rubber tubes are employed to link a feed/discharge beaker to the solar reactor and (v) magnetic stirrer (DLAB model Ms-H280) to guarantee that the solution and the catalyst within the container is completely homogenized.…”

“…3 is located in Menoufia city in the north of Egypt with a location coordinates are 30°58'N and 31°01' E, respectively above 11 m of sea level. The location has a mild, sunny and dry weather specifically at summer periods [9]. The flat plate collector is used to collect the solar energy and is mounted facing south with a tilt angle of 28°40 according to the geography of the place.…”
