China, a leading global energy consumer, is undergoing a significant shift toward a green economy. The main factors driving this shift are ambitious objectives to achieving carbon neutrality and a growing focus on environmental sustainability. This review examines the current status of China's use of energy resources within the context of the green economy. A review of the published literature was conducted to provide updated data and information on China's energy transition from fossil fuel-based electricity generation to the utilization of renewable energy sources. The discussion concluded that although China relies mostly on fossil fuels, it has made significant progress in renewable energy penetration in the national mix. Wind and solar electricity are growing rapidly, but hydropower dominates. China has demonstrated its commitment to renewable energy by surpassing many other large countries through a rapid investment in clean energy. However, thoughtful policymaking is needed to balance economic growth with environmental protection. This work emphasizes the urgent need to prevent new coal-fired power plants, adopt management rules to permit high renewable energy generation from the national grid, and allow cheap consumer prices to drive consumption and generation. While China's efforts to become more environmentally friendly are still ongoing, it has become a global leader in sustainable energy.

Günümüzde enerji talebinin artmasıyla birlikte, fotovoltaik panellerin performansının artırılması önem kazanmaktadır. Bu nedenle, tek yüzeyli ve çift yüzeyli fotovoltaik panellerin (FV) performanslarının karşılaştırılması ve değerlendirilmesi önemli bir araştırma konusudur. Bu çalışmada, PVsyst yazılımı kullanılarak tek yüzeyli ve çift yüzeyli panellerin performansları karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışma, hesaplamaların hem tek taraflı hem de çift taraflı paneller için aynı koşullar altında yapılmasını sağlamak için Ankara ilinde aynı model tek yüzeyli ve çift yüzeyli FV paneller ile iki farklı güneş enerji santrali tasarlanmıştır. Bu iki tasarımın verimlilikleri kıyaslanmış, albedo etkisi incelenmiş, CO2 emisyon analizi ve teknik analizleri yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları, tek yüzeyli panellerin ortalama %82,21 performans oranıyla 1537 kWh/yıl ve çift yüzeyli panellerin ortalama %93,06 performans oranıyla 1740 kWh/yıl üretim potansiyeline sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Çift yüzeyli panellerin tek yüzeyli panellere göre daha yüksek performans gösterdiği ve yıllık ortalama enerji üretiminin %13 daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar, çift yüzeyli güneş paneli sistemlerinin verimliliği ve çevresel faydaları nedeniyle tek yüzeyli sistemlere göre daha yaygın hale getirilmesi, sürdürülebilir enerji üretimi için önemli bir adım olabilir.

Solar energy for low carbon buildings: choice of systems for minimal installation area, cost, and environmental impact

Solar application in buildings is limited by available installation areas. The performance of photovoltaic (PV) and solar collectors are compared in meeting the heating and cooling demand of a residential house using 100% solar energy through TRNSYS modelling of five systems that use air source heat pump and seasonal energy storage as optional assisting technologies. The results show that in a large scale, the PV working with air source heat pump is more efficient than the solar collector system. However, the photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) is the most spatially efficient with an energy capacity of 551 kWh/m2, 10.6% higher than that of the PV. Compared with the air source heat pump heating system using grid power, using solar energy regardless of system formats can reduce emission by 72% in a lifetime of 20 years. Solar energy can become cost-effective if the utility price is increased to above 0.7 CNY/kWh. The results can help in renewable planning in the studied climate.
