“…The two largest and most commonly read texts on equine lameness devote less than one page (out of over 2000) to sub solar abscessation. Most published case reports focus on abscesses that are secondary to other foot conditions such as keratoma (Jordan et al , 1996, Chan & Munroe, 1997, Pickersgill, 2000 and Lippold et al , 2006). It is suggested that horses with foot abscesses present as acutely and severely lame, with increased digital pulses and localised pain on hoof testers.…”
