Solar Powered LED Lighting with High GainBoost Converter

Abstract: High gain converters are extensively used in the solar powered Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lighting systems due to its several advantages, such as high voltage conversion, reduced voltage stress of power semiconductor devices as compared to conventional DC-DC converters. Solar energy is one of the sustainable energy resources and is able to collect the energy by using Photo-Voltaic (PV). In order to achieve high efficiency the PV should operate at maximum power point (MPP). This paper deals with the design of h… Show more

“…Perturb and Observe algorithm is the most popular method of tracing the MPP. This control algorithm has some disadvantages as described in [13], which P&O algorithm does not have ability to compare the terminal voltage value of the array with actual operating value of voltage at maximum power point [14]. In this study, selection of MPPT Incremental Conductance control algorithm is the finest resolution because it is easier to appliance, more efficient, higher speed of tracking.…”

“…Two input boost along with a switchedinductor impedance-network proposed in [17], which yields DC voltage magnitude of a desired level with lower ripple and has high conversion efficiency. In [18], a 120 W LED lighting system energized from a photovoltaic panel through a high gain converter is proposed and the analysis is done at a constant irradiation level. A new hybrid high gain converter with a lesser number of components is proposed in [19] with less stress in devices and more efficiency.…”
