Solar Supported Steam Production for Power Generation in Libya

Abstract: A hybrid power plant including a solar central receiver for receiving solar radiation and converting it to thermal energy. The power plant includes a molten salt heat transfer medium for transferring the thermal energy to heat exchanger. The use of fossil fuels should be reduced in near future due to their limited resources and increasing ecological impacts. Therefore, increased interest and incentives have been created for development of electricity supply utilizing renewable energy such solar energy, which h… Show more

“…The less the information is, the greater the information entropy is, and the greater the uncertainty of information is; otherwise, the smaller the information entropy is, the smaller the uncertainty of information is. According to the characteristics of entropy, the discrete degree of an index can be judged by calculating the entropy value [13]. The greater the discrete degree of the index is, the greater the impact of the index on the comprehensive evaluation is.…”

“…With the transformation of economic growth mode and the continuous development of Shenzhen's economy, port logistics has become increasingly important in the logistics system of Shenzhen. In 2015, the container throughput of Shenzhen port increased by 0.7 % compared with the previous year, with a total of 24,240,600 TEU [14]. Among them, the export container throughput decreased by 0.9 %.…”

“…Solar energy is a promising and abundant source of power in Libya. The country benefits from an average of 3500 hours of sunlight per year, with a solar radiation intensity of 7.1 kW/m 2 /day in the north and 8.1 kW/m 2 /day in the south (Moria & Elmnifi, 2020;Elmnifi et al, 2018). Figure 3 illustrates the solar radiation intensity across all regions of Libya as of 2020.…”

“…The eastern region is characterized by mountain ranges and a Mediterranean coastline that stretches for 1,850 km. The western region is marked by hills near the mountains, while the southern region includes part of the Sahara Desert (Elmnifi et al, 2018). Libya can be divided into five distinct climatic regions, with the prevailing climates being Mediterranean, hot summer, and desert climates (classified as BWh by the Canadian Space Agency).…”
