Solid Fission Product Diffusion in Irradiated Coated Particles

Abstract: Solid-fission-product diffusion was studied in pyrolytic carbon (PyC) coated particles. A method for determining diffusion coeficients is described. Changes in fission-product concentration profiles in the PyC are measured as a function of postirradiation annealing time and temperature. The influence of irradiation history and type of PyC on the diffusion behavior of Cs isotopes is demonstrated.
