Abstract:When the ass um pt ion of local thermal equilibrium between the solid and the fluid is not valid, Le., when the main heat transfer is between the two adjacent phases, the two-medium treatment of the heat transfer is needed. In this chapter interfacial geometries that are simple and continuous (as compared to discrete, which is discussed in Chapter 5), such as planar and curved surfaces, are considered.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
