Soliton wall superlattice charge-density-wave phase in the quasi-one-dimensional conductor(Per)2Pt(mnt)2

Abstract: We demonstrate that the Pauli spin-splitting effects in a magnetic field improve nesting properties of a realistic quasi-one-dimensional electron spectrum. As a result, a high resistance Peierls charge-density-wave ͑CDW͒ phase is stabilized in high enough magnetic fields in ͑Per͒ 2 Pt͑mnt͒ 2 conductor. We show that, in low and very high magnetic fields, the Pauli spin-splitting effects lead to a stabilization of a soliton wall superlattice ͑SWS͒ CDW phase, which is characterized by periodically arranged solito… Show more

“…If a field induced CDW 1 (FICDW) develops, then it makes the possibility of a re-entrant SP 1 state as we observe in our data likely, since the re-emergent CDW 1 state would re-stabilize the SP 1 state. Our results are also consistent with theoretical work that predicts a FICDW [22,23] for Per 2 [Pt(mnt) 2 ]. Another possible explanation given for the observation of the FICDW is due to a CDW-SDW hybridization [24].…”

“…Besides metallic superconductors and cold Fermi gases, these states have been attracting much attention in QCD, because they are also expected to appear in chiral condensates or diquark condensates of quarks at high density and/or high temperature [11,12]. However, in condensed matter systems, the direct confirmation of these states has not yet been achieved for 50 years since its proposal, in spite of tremendous efforts [13][14][15].…”
