Solubilities of 1-Ethylpyridinium Hexafluorophosphate in Ethanol + Water from (278.15 to 345.15) K

Abstract: Using a laser monitoring observation technique, the solubilities of 1-ethylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate in ethanol + water binary solvent mixtures have been measured from (278.15 to 345.15) K. The experimental data were well correlated with the modified Apelblat equation. The solubility of 1-ethylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate in ethanol + water is higher than that in water and ethanol, respectively, and reaches the maximum value when the mass fraction (w) of water in the ethanol + water binary solvent mixtu… Show more

“…The study on their phase behavior with organic solutes is of interest. In view of the industrial importance of phase equilibria involving ILs such as vapor–liquid equilibria, liquid–liquid equilibria, and solid–liquid equilibria, the solubilities of a number of ionic liquid in different solvents have been investigated, for example, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([emim][PF 6 ]), 1-ethylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate ([EPy][PF 6 ]), and didecyldimethylammonium nitrate ([DDA][NO 3 ]) . However, solubility data of [OMIM][NO 3 ] and [HMIM][NO 3 ] are not found in literature.…”

“…There is an urgent need to develop better solvents for large scale chemical separation. The solubilities of room temperature ILs in different solvents have been investigated extensively. To our knowledge, relevant researches about the solubilities of dicationic ILs in binary solvent mixture were still rare. …”
