Solubility of Octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine in 12 Pure Organic Solvents from 298.15 to 358.15 K

Abstract: The solubility of octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX) in 12 pure solvents was measured in the temperature range of 298.15–358.15 K by the static equilibrium method through high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at the atmospheric pressure, including dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), N,N-dimethylformamide (DMAC), 1,4-butyrolactone (BL), triethyl phosphate, propylene carbonate, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), cyclohexanone, cyclopentanone, acetonitrile, acetone, and … Show more

“…Di Toro et al. [8] have determined log P values in four water‐solvent systems, and there is a reasonable amount of data on solubilities in nonaqueous solvents [40–42] These can be converted into log P values for water to (dry) non‐aqueous solvents, taking log Sw as −4.82 [43]. Unfortunately, there is no connection at all between the two sets of log P values – the first time that we have encountered this difficulty.…”

“…The solubility data were also correlated by another semiempirical model, named the Yaws model (eq ). It can also be employed to fit the solubility data of a solute at different temperatures in pure solvents.…”

“…The solubility data were also correlated by another semiempirical Yaws model, which is shown as eq . The meanings of the first two parameters ( A 1 , B 1 ) on the right side of the Yaws model were the same as those of the modified Apelblat model, while the third parameter ( C 1 ) can better describe solubility curves with the special varying trend. …”
