Solution of distributed generation allocation problem using a novel method

Abstract: <p>In this paper, A novel optimization technique called whale optimization algorithm (WOA) is modified, used and implemented to find the best possible solution to the problem of optimal locating and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) resources such as photovoltaic cells, fuel cells and kVAR compensators in radial distribution feeders. The modified technique is used for the first time to solve this kind of optimization problem which includes optimal sizing and location of DG units in radial distributio… Show more

“…Therefore, proper sizes and location of DGs in the distribution system can attain some economical, technical and environmental benefit. Optimizing DG was investigated to improve voltage profile and reduce system power loss in distribution system as technical aspects [2][3][4][5]. For achieving economical and environmental aspects, renewable energy sources (RES) based DG were integrated to reduce energy emission and cost [6].…”

“…Experiment on three different test systems verified the effectiveness of the adaptive PSO in solving the DG allocation problem. Later, article [20] proposed optimal DG allocation using Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). The research considers various types of DG resources like photovoltaic cells, fuel cells and kVAR compensators.…”
