Solvent-Tuned Synthesis of Mesoporous Nickel Cobaltite Nanostructures and Their Catalytic Properties

Abstract: In this paper, we prepared mesoporous nickel cobaltite (NiCo2O4) nanostructures with multi-morphologies by simple solvothermal and subsequent heat treatment. By adjusting the solvent type, mesoporous NiCo2O4 nanoparticles, nanorods, nanowires, and microspheres were easily prepared. The as-prepared products were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (B… Show more

“…From this system, the composition NiCo 2 O 4 is the most studied because it is a promising active material for different applications. It has been reported that NiCo 2 O 4 shows better electrochemical properties compared to Co 3 O 4 and NiO because of the simultaneous presence of redox couples (Ni 2+ /Ni 3+ and Co 2+ /Co 3+ ) associated with its crystalline structure [20][21][22][23][24]. Therefore, these interesting redox properties can potentially be exploited in electrochemical and thermochemical storage technologies.…”
