Solving the Hagedorn temperature of AdS5/CFT4 via the Quantum Spectral Curve: Chemical potentials and deformations

Troels Harmark,
Matthias Wilhelm

Abstract: We describe how to calculate the Hagedorn temperature of N = 4 SYM theory and type IIB superstring theory on AdS 5 × S 5 via the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC)providing further details on our previous letters [1] and [2]. We solve the QSC equations perturbatively at weak 't Hooft coupling λ up to seven-loop order and numerically at finite coupling, finding that the perturbative results can be expressed in terms of single-valued harmonic polylogarithms. Moreover, we generalize the QSC to describe the Hagedorn tem… Show more

“…Recently, important advances have been made on the string theory side, with the discovery that the so-called thermal scalar can compute not just the leading order flat-space temperature at infinite coupling, but also the first order correction [17,18], giving T H ≃ g 2π + 1 2π , for large g, which matches the results of [11,15]. Indeed, we can write the thermal scalar equation of motion (EOM) as…”

“…For type II string theory on AdS spaces, one obtains a unique prediction for the l 2 s /R 2 correction to the Hagedorn temperature. We compare successfully this correction to the numerical predictions of the QSC technique for type IIB string theory on AdS 5 × S 5 [10,11,15] and for type IIA string theory on AdS 4 × CP 3 [16]. It also matches the string zero point energy calculation of [24] for AdS spaces.…”
