In this study, we focus on migration from metropolitan to outside areas in Japan, and quantitatively examine the personal and regional determinants of this process. At the regional level, our results show that the determinants of migration differ depending upon whether migration occurs from smaller to larger cities or vice versa. In the case of migration from larger to smaller cities, the residential environment beyond the metropolitan area is more important than employment opportunities. At the personal level, we analyzed the differences among the determinants of migration, looking at migrants according to age categories and based on their motivations for migrating. The main factors encouraging migration comprised opportunities for employment, education, and marriage.

At present, with the acceleration of rural urbanization, people’s market demand for new building materials is also increasing, and the research and development of new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite materials are also in continuous progress and development. The purpose of this article is to analyze the feasibility of developing new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite materials to promote rural urbanization and propose the application of more new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite materials to our urbanization construction. In, we first conducted research on the new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite material and rural urbanization, and then, we conducted research on the various properties of the new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite material and the development of rural urbanization. The research results show that the new PVC/fine sand imitation stone composite material has at least 400% improvement in compressive performance compared with the traditional PVC material, and it is also better than the traditional PVC material in terms of the material expansion and contraction performance, which is more conducive to the application our rural urbanization is under construction.

In this paper, the benefits and externalities (spillover effects) of urbanisation in Kogi East, Nigeria were examined. Data for the study were obtained by administering 1408 questionnaire copies to households in Ankpa, Anyigba and Idah as well as communities within 15km radius of Ankpa, Anyigba and Idah being the urbanizing centres in Kogi East. Questionnaire data was analysed using means, tables and simple percentages. Results obtained showed that population explosion, material structures and diversity of infrastructural facilities/services were the principal benefits of urbanisation in Kogi East (Ankpa, Anyigba and Idah) with average percentage of 60.8%. Others included improvement in employment opportunities and relative prosperity, enhancement of better communication, transport, housing and public/social infrastructure, improvement in income and wealth distribution among several others. The study showed that across the three locations power outage, social problems (drug addiction, crime, prostitution, alcoholism and political thuggery) and overcrowding were the essential and common urbanisation problems. The study further showed that security of life/poverty, poverty, water supply and sanitation and environmental pollution were serious problems in urban areas with higher mean scores than in the hinterland (rural).
