Abstract:Substance use disorders (SUDs) have reached epidemic proportions in the United States. The focus on the bad news related to SUDs can lead to a sense of hopelessness for nurses about identifying and managing these disorders. What is not as widely known is that there have been advances in several areas related to SUDs.
