“…Topical therapy is seldom effective, owing to the thick scabs which are produced and thus chemotherapy has been based on the use of systemic antibiotics. Roberts (6) and Blancou (7) advocated the use of high dose penicillin and streptomycin combinations given as a single dose but the large amounts of antibiotic required necessitate several injections and the high rates of cure reported by these authors have not been obtained by others (8,9,Lloyd,personal observations found this formulation to be much less useful. The studies reported here were carried out on the island of St. Kitts in the Leeward Islands.…”
