“…In the previtellogenic follicle, Scatchard analysis demonstrates that JH decreased the Kd for ouabain binding, but did not alter the B,,, value, indicating that no large scale unmasking of latent binding sites occurred. Such an observation is consistent with an earlier observation of a modest increase in ATPase activity in preparations from previtellogenic follicles (8).…”

“…This action of JH is blocked by ouabain, a specific inhibitor of Na+,~+-ATl?ase (7). The homone brings about a threefold increase in activity of Na+,K+-ATPase when added to microsomal preparations of follicle cells from vitellogenic follicles, but fails to affect rnicrosomes prepared from brain (7,8). Curiously, although JH does not affect patency in previtellogenic follicles, it nevertheless brings about some increase in activity of Na+, Kf -ATPase (8), and isolated cells from previtellogenic follicles decrease in volume in the presence of JW (9).…”

“…After centrifugation, the supernatant was used for determination of trypsin [47], chymotrypsin [47], lipase [48], amylase [49], alkaline phosphatase (AKP) [50] and Na + , K + -ATPase activities [51]. Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GT) activities in the intestine were determined by using a γ-GT Assay Kit (Sigma, St Louis, MO).…”

“…The activities of trypsin and lipase were measured according to the methods of Wang et al (2014) and Bier (1955). The Na + -K + ATPase activity was tested by the method of Ilenchuk and Davey (1982). And the alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activity was assayed using the procedure of Krogdahl et al (2003).…”
